The Hillsdale Volunteer Ambulance Service provides 100% free emergency medical response to Hillsdale residents and surrounding communities on a mutual aid basis throughout the year.

The Borough of Hillsdale has, for the last two years, provided funding to support full-time EMTs Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 6:00pm. Our daytime response times to calls average less than five minutes, by far the best in our area.

Our volunteers continue to provide emergency medical response evenings, nights and weekends.

Our emergency calls can include: cardiac arrests, strokes, automobile/motorcycle accidents, OB/GYN emergencies, allergic reactions, falls, diabetic emergencies, seizures, choking, high fever, flu, overdoses, mental health emergencies, etc. We respond with unwavering resolve and we rapidly jump up to help our neighbors and protect the public, all as volunteers. We continue to be one of the busiest single ambulance agencies in the Bergen County area!

In 2025, we are celebrating our 71st year of service to Hillsdale and our surrounding Pascack Valley Community! Generations later, we’re still here looking out for all of our residents and visitors to the area alike. And as always, we have never billed a patient for our services. We do not receive any Federal funding, so our volunteers are able to provide free pre-hospital care to you, your family and friends, and your neighbors because of your generous, tax-deductible donations. We rely heavily on your support to fund our ambulance, equipment, training, and operating expenses. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to serving you and your families for years to come!
